Violence Protection Officer – CDMX
The Norwegian Council for Refugees (NRC) is an International Non -Governmental Organization based in OSLO, Norway that works in more than 40 countries offering humanitarian assistance to the most vulnerable population. NRC has been responding to the growing internal and external displacement in Central America and Mexico since 2015, focusing on the protection crisis and integrating interventions for legal assistance, education, accommodation and infrastructure, water and sanitation, and livelihoods.
NRC is an organization with a high international reputation in humanitarian assistance and has been working in Latin America for more than 30 years leading humanitarian action in many of the countries where it operates.
In Mexico, NRC has been collaborating with local partners since 2019 and at this time it is expanding its scope, starting activities through direct implementation in the states of Veracruz, Coahuila and Mexico City, with more than 20 collaborators hired by NRC in Mexico, giving assistance to displays in the intervention areas in the country.
1. Objective
A gratifying opportunity to join our team in NRC Mexico, we are looking for a violence protection officer to lead with its technical skills and efficiently the execution of NRC protection projects in the Mexico City Office specifically protection monitoring, case management, the delivery of individual protection assistance, incidence of protection, and other activities of the projects that contribute to mitigate the consequences of violence.
2. Main responsibilities
- Plan, implement and monitor the activities of the Violence Protection Program.
- Implement the case management program and individualized protection assistance, ensuring the quality of services, monitoring, data protection of people of interest and NRC principles.
- Ensure the monitoring of the cases registered by NRC, guaranteeing safe remissions and carrying out the registration process on the corresponding platforms according to the operational procedures.
- Contribute to the construction and update of the mapping of protection actors in the intervention zone to strengthen the safe remission system with key actors for the delivery of complementary specialized services.
- Participate in relevant coordination forums and maintain constructive relationships with other actors working in favor of the protection of people of interest in the intervention context.
- Implement protection monitoring tools and carry out analyzes that allow adapting the response of the violence protection competence in the intervention context. As well as, provide quality control and supervision of the data collected, and identify and address errors in data collection or introduction.
- Under the Coordination, the program manager, to consolidate the quantitative and qualitative information derived from the protection monitoring and other meetings for the preparation of narrative (monthly, quarterly reports, etc.) on the state of implementation of the projects under their charge.
- Provide supplies for the design of protection incidence strategies that contribute to mitigate violence.
- Collect and provide analysis of the situation of local context, the needs and the response to the population of interest in their geographical intervention areas, as well as the support mechanisms.
- Guarantee internal coordination with the other NRC competences in Mexico, seeking complementarity and synergies for the attention of cases based on the needs of people in mobility.
- Guarantee the coordination with the administrative area of the Office in terms of purchasing and contracting processes related to the implementation of violence protection projects and activities, according to the standard NRC operation procedures.
- Identify and participate in coordination initiatives with other actors who work with NRC interest population in the area.
- Support in the elaboration of strategic and operational plans of the work of NRC in Mexico providing key information from the work areas.
- Support for financial monitoring, elaboration and monitoring of the purchase processes of competition in Mexico City.
- The others assigned by the supervisor in compliance with the objective of the position.
3. Professional competencies
- Professional University Title in Law, Social Sciences, Psychology, Social Work or related careers.
- Minimum experience of three (3) years of work in similar positions, preferably in the humanitarian field.
- Previous experience in protection monitoring, case management, protection incidence, coordination with other humanitarian actors, budget management.
- Knowledge of the context and the political and social situation of Mexico and specifically from Mexico City can be considered as an advantage.
- Knowledge in Human Rights, International Humanitarian Law, International Law of refugees and guiding principles of internal displacements.
- Skills to work independently and have innovation capacity.
- Capacity for interpersonal relationships and to achieve agreements with different actors.
- Excellent writing and data management and information.
- Skills to develop work under pressure.
- Previous work experience in complex and volatile contexts.
- Knowledge and/or experience in issues related to forced displacement, humanitarian assistance and protection.
- Documented results related to the responsibilities of the position.
- Office package mastery.
- Ability to face change
- Experience in the use of MS Office (Word, Excel, Power Point)
- Excellent skills for oral and written expression.
