The Venezuelan Red Cross (CRV) is a humanitarian organization whose mandate is to save lives and improve the conditions of people in vulnerability. As part of the Red Cross International Movement and the Red Crescent, it provides timely assistance in emergencies, disasters and contexts of humanitarian necessity.

Guided by its fundamental principles – humanity, impartiality, neutrality, independence, volunteering, unity and universality – CRV acts as an assistant to public powers in the humanitarian sphere, working to reduce human suffering without distinction of race, gender, religion or ideology. His work covers emergency medical care, the strengthening of community resilience, first aid training, disasters response and health and well -being promotion.

How can you make a difference? Key functions / responsibilities

The protection assistant provides operational, logistical and technical support to the implementation of activities of the Venezuelan Red Cross Protection Area (CRV), which includes migration, gender and inclusion (PGI), restoration of family contact (RCF) and community participation and accountability (CEA). It supports the protection officer or the coordination of the area in tasks of preparation, monitoring, documentation and execution of activities according to the established work plan.

It will be the manager (a) of:

  • Provide logistical and operational support for the realization of community activities, training days, land visits, meetings or events of the protection area.
  • Support information systematization and activity data lifting
  • performed on the ground (forms, lists, records, basic technical reports).
  • Accompany community activities on migration, inclusion, CEA and RCF issues, in coordination with the officer or protection coordinator.
  • Support the dissemination of materials, key messages and awareness tools in communities, social networks or internal channels, according to team planning.
  • Collaborate in the preparation of materials, kits, equipment, refreshments or other logistics elements required for area activities.
  • Monitoring of slopes, delivery control, basic inventory, archives, logistics and administrative organization of the protection area.
  • Support the organization and systematization of community feedback mechanisms and CEA tools.
  • Compile and prepare statistical supplies and logistics reports related to the implementation of protection activities.
  • Responsible for the administrative review of the financial processes related to requests for funds and financing of protection projects under the principles and guidelines of the CRV and partners involved and the protection of these.
  • Lead the inventories of materials, supplies and protection equipment and their proper update sharing regular reports with those responsible for programs and protection officer.
  • Develop and update the inventory of protection volunteers and their training plan in close collaboration with the corresponding areas.
  • Participate in internal and coordination meetings of the area when required.
  • Execute other tasks assigned by the protection officer or protection coordination, as need.

Report

The protection assistant will report to the protection officer or the protection coordination, according to the structure and the current work plan.

Workplace

Caracas (headquarters of the Venezuelan Red Cross), with availability to travel nationwide.

To qualify as a builder of the Venezuelan humanitarian system you must meet the following requirements:

  • University Degree in Social Sciences, Law, International Relations, Social Work, or related areas.
  • Minimum experience of one (1) year in support of humanitarian, social or community programs, preferably in logistics, operational or field functions.
  • Basic knowledge of topics related to protection, migration, gender or participation
  • Community is desirable.
  • Basic knowledge of principles and good practices in the protection of personal data in humanitarian contexts.
  • Ability to organize activities, manage earrings and keep ordered records.
  • Good oral and written communication. Ability to interact with diverse communities and teams.
  • Experience in the Red Cross movement / Red Crescent is desirable.
  • Commitment to the fundamental principles of the Red Cross and the Red Crescent.
  • High sense of responsibility, organization and collaboration in teams.
