The IRC is seeking a Safety & Security Training Coordinator to support the READI Academy across its full operational portfolio, including the delivery of our flagship READI program courses in multiple field locations.

The READI Academy plays a central role in preventing critical incidents, reducing their impact, and strengthening the protection of frontline aid workers. With a catalogue of more than 15 specialized courses, and over 1,000 IRC staff and partners trained each year, the READI Academy is transforming how safety and security learning is delivered, making high‑quality, previously inaccessible training widely available and scalable.

This role combines training leadership, operational coordination, and deployable field security expertisecontributing directly to staff safety, humanitarian access, and continuity of operations.
Major Responsibilities:
1. Training Operations & Logistics:
- Coordinate the annual READI training calendar with RSSDs and RSSCs.
- Lead logistical planning and delivery of Training‑of‑Trainers (ToT) programs.
- Serve as primary focal point for READI instructors, managing schedules, documentation, certifications, and follow‑up.
- Maintain READI documentation and the L&D Box, ensuring alignment with updated standards.
- Manage training equipment databases and oversee procurement of first‑aid and training equipment for the ToT pool.
- Handle administrative tasks and ensure timely follow-up on operational action points.
2. Monitoring, Data & Quality Assurance:
- Lead data collection, consolidation, and analysis for all READI training events.
- Ensure accurate filing of training reports in the NUCO database and provide quarterly feedback to trainers.
- Oversee quality assurance follow-up and produce the annual QA assessment.
- Monitor country and regional adherence to IRC Security Minimum Standards (SMS) when deployed and remotely on a quarterly basis; identify gaps, document lessons learned, and systematically feed findings back into the READI curriculum, instructor development, and training interventions.
- Manage training‑related databases and track progress on strategic initiatives and instructor development.
3. Instruction & Program Development:
- Deliver Training of Trainers (Level 3) for the READI program;
- Support Instructor-level training delivery when urgent gaps arise.
- Lead the biannual Standardization Event to ensure harmonization of training practices across regions.
- Support the development and roll‑out of special projects, including initiatives related to female empowerment.
- During deployments, build the capacity of Security staff and country program teams through hands‑on coaching and training on: SRAs, SMPs, Contingency planning, SOPs in line with IRC global standards.
- Strengthen principled humanitarian access strategies through contextual analysis, acceptance‑building approaches, and engagement with relevant state and non‑state actors.
- Where feasible, integrate incident management, crisis leadership, and decision‑making under pressure into in‑country trainings and simulations to enhance operational readiness. (Under guidance from the Director Security Incident Management.
- Solicit feedback on the current design and delivery methodologies of READI courses from participants and other field and regional team members;
- Collaboratively implement corrective and improvement measures to the course design and delivery in response to received feedback;
- Support READI instructors in the delivery of Field READI courses and budgeting
- Ensure the incorporation of intersectional training practices in the delivery of all READI courses.
- Contribute to program development through the design of e‑learning and blended learning components, including scenario‑based modules, simulations, gamified content, videos, and micro‑learning.
- Promote the use of responsible AI and innovative learning technologies like Synthesia or Genially to enhance scalability, personalization, and operational realism of READI courses.
- Ensure digital learning content is context‑specific and regionally adapted, aligned with IRC global standards and Security Minimum Standards.
- Use learner feedback and performance data to continuously improve programme design and learning effectiveness.
Job Requirements:
Education: Candidates with an undergraduate university degree or higher, technical degree, certification in related field, and/ or significant applicable lived experience will be preferred.
Work Experience:
- A minimum of two years’ experience delivering ToT training in high-risk contexts, with the ability to develop, implement, facilitate, and impart learning to a wide range of audiences, both remotely and in-person drawing on a range of learning tools and approaches.
- L3 level (Trainer of Trainer level) is a must
- Excellent skills in inclusive adult learning and development are essential;
- A minimum of five years professional security experience on the field, three of which non-profit or NGO work experience within international humanitarian programs.
- IRC previous experience is an added value.
- Previous experience in administrative or project coordination roles.
- Having worked in accordance with and in understanding of the humanitarian principles
- Analytical experience gaining a precise and impartial understanding of local, regional and international dynamics, and providing dynamic briefings of historical and unfolding security, political, and cultural events
- Some regional experience strongly preferred

- Solid ability to provide team-building, coaching, and development for staff as well as encourage cross-functional collaboration and cooperation
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and relationship-building skills are essential
- Highly proficient in Microsoft Office suite and data software like Power Bi + AI, micro learning tools knowledges.
- Excellent English language skills, both written and verbal; in addition to excellent language skills in at least one or more of the following: French, Spanish, Arabic
Working Environment:
- The position can be based remotely ideally or remote aligned with Amman +/- 2 hours
- Training delivery and operational support are central to the role and require travel to IRC field locations up to 50% of the time, including short‑notice deployments during emergencies or transitions.
- The role includes short‑notice remote or in‑person deployments to support country and regional programs during emergencies, transitions, or critical security gaps.
