Purpose of this position
As a Charity Shops Regionalordinator you are the point of contact for the stores and volunteers within your region and responsible for managing national stores and realizing the set goals.
You like to work with people and to build trust and connection. This is your starting point to use all the opportunities together and thus realize a maximum net contribution for the projects of Terre des Hommes. That our Terre des Hommes stores are run by volunteers is an extra motivation for you. You see the challenge and values in a collaboration with people who are committed to a good cause.
Position in the organization
You report to the Retail Operations & Volunteer Support manager and you are part of a team of 7. This team focuses on continuing the existing local and national shopping network and volunteer support and involvement.
Together with the Retail Communication & Business Development team, we form the Shopping Support Team, with a total of 10/11 team members. The Shopping Support Team is responsible for a well -functioning store network, where customers and volunteers feel at home and supported. This network consists of more than 40 stores and 1700 involved volunteers. The Shopping Support Team offers the entire network experience in retail, sales, volunteer involvement, administration and legal support.
You work closely with the other regionalordinator Charity stores for intervision and sharing best practices. For the development of the stores in your region you work closely with the team and the Communications & Business Development Manager. For operational support you have intensive collaboration with the Front Office coordinator and assistant, as well as the Finance & Control department.
What are you going to do ..
The Regiocordinator Charity Shops within their own region, fulfills a function at tactical and operational level and is primarily responsible for the following areas:
- People
You embrace the idea that the volunteers are the basis of the stores and are responsible for the realization of complete core teams (team of volunteers that coordinates the daily affairs in the store) and sufficiently large volunteer teams. For this you work together with your colleagues from Shopping Support and the Volunteer Recruitment coordinator.
You are responsible for a good working atmosphere and a safe working environment in the stores, you thereby look at the implementation of the valuation policy and the implementation of the safety checklist.
More specifically:
- Immediately leads the volunteers from the core team and indirectly to the volunteer teams.
- Creates a pleasant atmosphere and safe working environment.
- Encourages the functioning of volunteers.
- Is responsible for just qualified and sufficient core team members and volunteers.
- Acts as an escalation option for conflicts.
- Span of Control between 24 and 40 core team members and 240 to 500 volunteers
- Finance
You have everything in your backpack to make stores a success and together with the core teams and volunteers to ensure that what is going well remains and you know how to potentially cash in. From entrepreneurship and commercial thinking you use all the opportunities and possibilities with stores to travel from A to B (eater and even best). You support and motivate the volunteers in your stores like no other to achieve great results. The stores are an important part of the fundraising strategy of Terre des Hommes Nederland. We have therefore prepared a realistic growth and development ambition.
More specifically:
- Realizes the set goals:
- 6 to 10 stores in the relevant region
- Is responsible for agreed goals for short and medium term, turnover and net result expectation and budget management.
- Selecting 2 stores in their own region annually, to come to a Plan of Approach and the implementation thereof together with the Retail Development Coordinator.
- Contribute annually to opening a new store in your own region.
- Use opportunities and developments in the market that fit within the strategy of the Terre des Hommes organization.
- Makes an active contribution to the cost reduction and profit optimization of the stores in their own region.
- Set an annual plan and budget for the stores, monitor progress with the Retail Operations & Volunteer Support manager.
- Coordinates cash control and financial store administration.
- Is independently authorized to make decisions that are required for performing the tasks at store level. Within the framework of the set annual plan and an approved budget for the individual stores.
- Provides input to the strategic annual and multi-year plan of the Terre des Hommes Stores Foundation.
- Implementation policy
- Implement the volunteer and store policy.
- Provides input for new policy and methods (including contract management, community activation and online activities)
- Is responsible for safety, occupational health and safety and meets relevant law regulations and compliance within the stores in their own region.
- Is responsible for the entire operation of the stores in their own region.
- Teaches from best practices and shares this to other stores in their own region.
- Actively shares own knowledge in the field of retail and marketing and working with volunteers.
- Is responsible for the entire operation of business operations and shops (cash register, accounting, Nuts & Telecom etc.).
- Local network and local partners
- Mobilizes locally people, organizations, entrepreneurs and governments to make a positive contribution and to commit themselves to the stores.
- Encourages the voluntary core teams in finding, developing and maintaining partnerships, sponsors and a local network around the stores as well as online visibility.

- +3 years of work experience in a coordinating function that revolves around people, results and commercial thinking in a social enterprise
- Has knowledge of and experience in the retail and commercial industry.
- Has knowledge of and experience in working with volunteers.

- Looks like working at the office in The Hague 1 day a week, to be on the road 2 days a week on average and to work 1 day a week from home.

- A 1 -year contract with the intention to then extend to a contract for an indefinite period.
- The salary scale for this position is scale 9 and depending on experience between € 3.501.97 – € 4.461.39 gross per month based on a full -time (36 hours)
- We offer a 36 -hour contract that is equivalent to a full -time working week in our organization. The advantage of this is that you can work 4 x 9 and have one day a week off while you still have a full -time contract. You can distribute the hours over the week to your preference, in consultation with your manager;
- We work hybrid, so 50% in the office and 50% at home. We are quite flexible and have an eye for your work-life balance;
- An office in the thriving heart of The Hague, city of international human rights and political capital.
- 25 days of paid leave per year on the basis of full -time employment, with part -time pro rata;
- We offer a commuting allowance for the kilometers that you make by bike or ensure an NS card;
- Our pension scheme is placed with ASR and Terre des Hommes bears the majority of the pension contribution.
