DRC established an operational presence in Colombia in 2011 with a focus on Humanitarian Mine Action (HMA) and providing support to the conflict-affected population in the south of the country. With the onset of large mixed migration flows to Colombia due to the Venezuelan crisis, DRC initiated an integrated humanitarian response in 2018 to meet the urgent needs of refugees, asylum seekers, migrants, Colombian returnees and host communities in some of the areas. most vulnerable areas of Colombia, such as the coastal areas of the Caribbean (Riohacha and Barranquilla). urban centers (Bogotá and Cundinamarca), and Caquetá. In 2021, DRC opened field offices on the South Pacific coast in the department of Nariño and the northern area of Colombia in Norte de Santander and Bolívar.
About work
We work to enable communities emerging from conflict to regain access to their homes and support the efforts of governments, relief and development organizations to enable community recovery and transition to social and economic development.
DRC is currently looking for a Radio Operator for the Support area who, with their management, will support ACM’s Comprehensive Mine Action program that is implemented in municipalities in the department of Nariño.
Position: Radio Operator
Purpose of the position:
Under the supervision of the Base Manager, you will carry out radio communications monitoring and tracking activities, satellite tracking of the fleet aligned with applicable standards and procedures.
Responsibilities
- Ensure the proper use and maintenance of the communication equipment delivered for the development of their functions.
- Use the necessary tools to record and control the operation, collect, classify, process, interpret and adequately disperse the information.
- Request radio reports as necessary for the operation.
- Verify the availability of air evacuation support (MEDEVAC) as a guarantee of the operation.
- Ensure a rapid, systematic, organized and effective response to emergency events that may affect the interests of the Organization.
- Verify the activities of personnel in the field, as well as their conditions, keeping a digital record.
- Carry out documentary tracking and satellite monitoring of the Organization’s vehicles and validate the vehicle programming on the platform.
- Support to the PESV (Strategic Road Safety Plan) in the documentary part.
Logistics and Resources:
- Request reports on the status, time and place of the base operation through the available means of communication in accordance with the DRC Communications POA.
- Carry out documentary tracking and satellite monitoring of the Organization’s vehicles and validate the vehicle programming on the platform.
- Report incidents and accidents resulting from the operation to Context and Area Management in a timely manner.
- Support in the management of the fleet readiness, guaranteeing the proper functioning of the vehicles and the elements necessary to circulate during the operation (GPS, Satellite, etc.).
- Generate traceability reports by mileage of the vehicle fleet.
- Support the receipt, reporting and management of inventories.
- Immediately report to your supervisor all damages and/or loss of materials/equipment, as well as all eventualities related to the base’s fleet.
- Ensure that the equipment and means made available to you are used correctly, keeping them in perfect operational condition (cleanliness and care).
- Other tasks assigned by the Support Manager, Area Manager and Supply Chain Leader, in accordance with the programmatic needs of the base.
Cross-cutting responsibilities:
- Attend special training as required.
- Support operational efficiency through support to other components of the organization.
- Support wellness activities and the monthly execution of defined activities to improve the work environment at the headquarters.
Safety and Health at Work
- Seek comprehensive care for your health.
- Actively participate in the formation of COPASST – Labor Coexistence Committee – Emergency Brigades, as well as the activities they carry out.
- Comply with the rules, regulations and instructions of the SG SST.
- Report in a timely manner the dangers and risks latent with your workplace.
- Attend OSH training defined by the SG-SST training program.
- Ensure the maintenance of order and cleanliness in your position and work area.
- Provide clear, truthful and complete information about your health status.
- Immediately report to the OSH area and your immediate boss any work-related accidents, incidents (near-misses) and illnesses diagnosed as work-related.
- Report to the immediate supervisor the need to take corrective or preventive actions, which correspond to real or potential non-conformities of the process to which it belongs.
- Participate in training activities, drills and those that are scheduled from occupational health and safety.
- Participate and contribute to the fulfillment of the SG-SST policy and objectives.

Experience and Technical Skills:
- Experience in managing technological media
- Proficient in the Office suite, particularly Excel and Word (intermediate)
- Management skills, proactivity, organization and attention to detail.
- Communication skills, warmth and friendliness, service orientation.
Education:
- Academic Bachelor.
Languages:
- Basic knowledge of the English language is an advantage.
