SOLIDARITES INTERNATIONAL (If) is an association of international humanitarian aid which, for over 40 years, has rescued populations victims of armed conflicts and natural disasters by meeting vital needs, drinking, eating, sheltering. Particularly engaged in the fight against diseases linked to unhealthy water, the leading cause of mortality in the world, if implemented by its interventions an expertise in the field of access to drinking water, sanitation and the promotion of hygiene but also in that, essential, of food safety and means of existence. Present in 26 countries, the SI teams – 3,200 people in total made up of expatriates, national employees, permanent staff at the headquarters, some volunteers, etc. – intervene with professionalism and commitment to cultures.

The mission

The International Solidarity Project (SI) in France helps audiences in precarious situations living in precarious habitat sites (slum or squats) around Toulouse, Lille, Nantes, Marseille, Montpellier as well as in Ile-de-France and Mayotte. The difficulties of targeted audiences are characterized by the barriers they encounter to access essential services (in particular maintenance and hygiene products) and by highly degraded housing conditions not allowing decent living conditions due to a very degraded environment. If meets the needs of the populations targeted by installing drinking water access infrastructure, health infrastructure and the distribution of hygiene kits.

General objective:

The logistics assistant and finance of the southern base exercises its functions under the authority of the logistics and finance manager of the southern zone (Marseille, Toulouse, Montpellier) and works in collaboration with the programs teams: EHA techniques (Water, Hygiene and Sanitation), fight against menstrual precariousness and community mobilization.

Internship objectives:

  • Discover a mission within an NGO and understand the relationship between siege, coordination and land
  • Discover activities in the field by traveling in mainland France on the various intervention sites
  • Discover the different professions in the field
  • Understand the functioning of a mission and its constraints
  • Understand the relationships between the various humanitarian actors
  • Discover and put into practice the different purchasing procedures
  • Put into practice project monitoring management
  • Discover the different financial monitoring tools

List of main responsibilities:

  • To assist le.la log-end in terms of market and updating of purchases related tools in compliance with funder rules
  • Ensure programs and logistics orders as well as purchase monitoring
  • Ensure the transport of goods, the delivery of purchases and the storage of goods before the intervention of the technical teams
  • To assist le.la log-end in search of product donations for hygiene kits
  • Assist the implementation of distributions, move to the field to participate in distributions
  • Ensure the archiving and centralization of logistics documents
  • Ensure the updating of accounting newspapers and the archiving of accounting documents
  • Follow up on invoicing and prepare

Detail of the tasks:

PURCHASES

  • To assist le.la log-end in the study of French markets and the search for suppliers and donations
  • Participate in the preparation of purchasing files via the Link platform in compliance with SI purchase procedures
  • Follow the purchase files and ensure their good reception in the mission storage spaces
  • Move in the field if necessary for purchasing monitoring, supplier search and implementation of distributions
  • Implement the transport of goods between intervention areas
  • Participate in the compilation of logistical documents during the final reports
  • Participate in the preparation of the monthly logistics pack
  • Archive documents of purchase files on the Link platform

TRANSPORT

  • Facilitate the trips of members of its area by preparing trains / hotels reservations
  • To assist le.la Logistics and finance manager in the organization of freight freight
  • Participate in the monitoring of fuel movements and the motorized fleet

STORAGE

  • Ensure the inventory of stock with the logistics and finance manager
  • Inform the program teams of the arrival of products in stock

DISTRIBUTIONS

  • Search for donations for the constitution of kits
  • Ensure packaging of kits, transport and storage of kits upstream of distributions
  • Move in the field to participate in the distribution of kits

ACCOUNTING

To assist le.la Logistics and finance manager in all accounting tasks:

  • Collect and compile all individual bank card monitoring (newspapers) in its area
  • Check and archive supporting documents
  • Compile the newspapers, check the consistency of analytical information and the right allocation of expenses
  • Gather all the elements of the accounting pack for the monthly sending to the logistics and finance manager: accounting newspapers / supporting documents / bank rapprochement / cash inventory / reading document.
  • Contribute to the monthly and annual accounting fence

Financial management

  • Participate in the verification of the mission’s budget monitoring
  • Make the cross check of the OFU (Operational Follow Up) and LFU (Logistics Follow Up) with the entries in accounts
  • Help preparing financial audits

GENERAL

  • Participate in weekly and monthly meetings of the office and the various worked services

  • Provide support to all areas based on requests

  • Ensure the archiving of logistics and financial documents in its area

  • Participate in the constitution of monthly logistics and financial packs

  • Coming from training in humanitarian logistics, accounting and/or financial management, project management, development, international relations, political science

  • Administrative capacity to carry out an internship / an alternation in France (French or European nationality, or holding a residence permit authorizing work)

  • Excellent knowledge of the Microsoft Office pack (Word and Excel mainly)

  • Very good analysis and writing skills

  • Good synthetic and prioritization capacities

  • Proactivity and critical mind

  • Capacity to work under pressure

  • Interest for the context: access to water on French territory

Stage:

  • Trainee with compulsory internship agreement
  • The gratuity is calculated in proportion to hours of actual presence over the month (in
    Average 1 month = 154 hours, or 22 days of 7 a.m./day)
  • Public transportation supported at 50% by international solidarity
  • Restaurant tickets at € 8.90 / Effective day internship, with participation of solidarity
    60 % international

Alternation:

  • Alternating apprenticeship contract of 12 months
  • Remuneration according to regulations in force
  • Mutual treatment at 80%
  • Public transportation supported at 50% by Solidarites International
  • Restaurant tickets at € 8.90, with participation of Solidarites Internationale at 60 %
  • Leaves: 2,0833 cp/month
