Emergency Coordinator (F/H) - SECARDO

Emergency Coordinator (F/H)

Country: France
Organization: doctors without borders
Closing date: 22 Jun 2025

Doctors Without Borders, an international humanitarian medical association created in 1971, provides medical assistance to populations whose life is threatened: mainly in the event of armed conflicts, but also epidemics, pandemics, natural disasters or even exclusion of care.

In emergency situations, MSF’s effectiveness largely depends on the Emergency Cell. The coordination of interventions is shared between the regular cells (an average of around 20 interventions in 2023 and 2024) and the Emergency Cell (about 15 on average over the past four years). To strengthen its capacity to respond to crises, MSF is currently recruiting two Emergency Coordinators to join the Emergency Cell.

Mission

In close collaboration with the operational Cell in Head Quarters, the Emergency Coordinator defines and leads the implementation of MSF operational strategy in Emergency contexts/situations where he/she is deployed. He/she facilitates discussions around risk-taking and team safety, formalizes risk analyses, and engages with key stakeholders to negotiate access to intervention sites. He/she mobilizes and coordinates teams, organizes program activities in a coherent sequence. He/she ensures the appropriate use of financial, logistical, and medical resources allocated to each intervention, and ensures that emergency response efforts are implemented without causing harm to either the beneficiaries or the association’s staff. He/she may be deployed as Emergency Coordinator as well as Project Coordinator or other position needed on emergency or explo/assessment team.
