Economic Recovery Assistant (Maracaibo)
The Deco Refugee Council is one of the leading humanitarian NGOs in the world, which works in more than 40 countries to provide adequate assistance and protection to refugees, asylum applicants, internal displaced, returned, people in movement and local vulnerable population/reception communities. Currently, DRC is looking for a Economic Recovery Assistant highly qualified based in Maracaibo, Venezuela.
About work:
DRC is managing its operations in Venezuela, under the direction of the country office in Caracas and three field offices located in the states of Sucre, Apure and Zulia. DRC Venezuela is implementing activities such as protection monitoring, legal assistance, individual protection assistance for PWSN, informative sessions for PIC, prevention of people trafficking, rehabilitation of food infrastructure and food safety.
Objective of the position:
The Economic Recovery Assistant will be responsible for providing support in the implementation of project activities in the field, mainly in the preparation and execution of food distribution days, complementary activities of livelihoods and protection, as well as in logistics, community and documentation processes guaranteeing compliance with DRC procedures and guidelines.
Responsibilities:
Operational and logistics support
- Support the preparation of activities in the communities.
- Participate in the enlistment and organization of the distribution site (tents, signage, furniture, attention zones).
- Guarantee the proper distribution of food and non -food assists supporting the control of access, verification of listings, delivery of chips or documentation of beneficiaries and other tasks related to the process.
- Actively collaborate in direct food delivery or kits, ensuring order, respect and fluidity.
- Ensure the protection and order of materials, inventories in the field and means of verification.
- Support in food reception, quantity control and temporary storage if required.
- Participate in the joint verification of the acquired goods and equipment and verify the compliance of the articles with the technical specifications and the quantities.
- Other activities necessary for the correct implementation of the project.
Community accompaniment
- Provide orientation to beneficiaries on the delivery process and delivery times.
- Give priority to people with specific needs: older people, pregnant women, people with disabilities, among others.
- Support the team in calling processes, community information and group organization.
- Respect the cultural practices of indigenous communities and support the logistics of participatory activities.
- Facilitate the realization of the community workshops or activities required by the program, according to the identification of needs.
Documentation and support for monitoring
- Support in the collection of signatures and documents related to the means of verification.
- Inform Team Leader about any incidence, claim or difficulty presented during the activities.
- Participate in surveys, needs evaluations or data collection if necessary
- Take the Bitácora of Activities and Routes when required by the Base Manager.
Experience and Technical Competencies
- At least 1 year of experience in work with communities or social/humanitarian projects.
- Experience in delivery and administration of humanitarian aid.
- Experience in rural contexts and difficult access or indigenous communities will be an added value.

Education
- Technical or professional training in social work, community assistance, logistics or related areas.
