Our organization

Present in Canada and in 74 countries, Doctors of the World is a volunteer, independent and international movement that works in its country and abroad. Thanks to innovative health programs and advocacy actions based on evidence, we give marginalized people and communities the ability to act and claim their right to health while fighting for universal access to care.

Present in Haiti since 1996, Doctors of the World has been working in partnership with national and local actors and manages to establish a bridge between communities and health institutions to strengthen access to care. This involvement makes it possible to support the health system in the management of pregnant women and malnourished children, in the management of problems related to the sexual and reproductive health of women and in the improvement of mental health.

Our challenge

Attached to the Department of International Operations, you will work under the authority of the Haiti chief of mission. You will be part of the coordination team in Haiti and will work in collaboration with all the personnel of international operations of the headquarters.

You will support and coordinate the accounting and administrative services of the mission of doctors of the World Canada in Haiti and will be the guarantor of compliance with the administrative and financial procedures of the mission.

Your main tasks will be as follows (non -exhaustive and scalable list):

  • In collaboration with the coordinators of projects and the head of mission, ensure the adequacy between the resources and the financial and administrative needs of the mission in general and projects in particular;
  • Make the internal diagnosis of the Finance and Administration Department, develop appropriate tools if necessary and ensure their implementation;
  • Depending on the requirements of donors and healthy management practices, develop, standardize and ensure the application of procedures, including the processing and verification of the documents necessary for planning and financial monitoring;
  • Support and support project coordinators in the realization and financial monitoring of the activities of projects with regard to accounting and administrative aspects;
  • Ensure the follow -up of all legal files (taxes, INSS, etc.) while respecting the labor code and the tax laws which prevail in Haiti;
  • Ensure the proper management, supervision and evaluation of people under your responsibility;
  • Organize as needed workshops to strengthen the capacities and skills of the accounting and administrative team in Haiti;
  • Perform any other task required in the context of your functions and the proper financial and administrative functioning of the mission in Haiti.

Our offer

  • Expatriate post unaccompanied Based in Port-au-Prince in Haiti
  • Renewable 2 years contract
  • Entry into post as soon as possible
  • Remuneration according to the MDM Canada wage grid (from $ 63,750 to $ 86,250 CA)
  • Monthly expatriation allowances according to MDM Canada’s policy
  • Rest period (R&R) according to MDM Canada policy
  • 4 weeks of vacation per year
  • Insurance (medical costs, repatriation and provident)
  • Housing in individual apartment

Your profile

  • Diploma of second cycle university studies in accounting, administration, human resources or any other related training
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in an equivalent position in an international NGO in the field
  • Technical knowledge in finance and administration: budget management, accounting, human resources, etc.
  • Experience in supervision and team animation, patience, diplomacy, listening capacity and pedagogy
  • Advanced master’s degree in Excel software
  • Knowledge of the accounting software saga an asset
  • Excellent oral and written communication in French (Creole and English an asset)
  • Great ability to prioritize, synthesize, adapt, live and work as a team and manage stress
  • Recognized for your commitment, versatility, proactivity as well as your great sense of organization and humor
