Description of COOPI in the country
Since 1999, COOPI has been present in Colombia, supporting communities affected by armed conflict and natural disasters. Within the framework of its action, COOPI, together with the Fondazione L’Albero della Vita, HIAS and HI, have formed the URABÁ-PAÍS consortium, within the framework of the project: “URABÁ-PAIS Project: Protection, humanitarian assistance and socioeconomic integration for migrants, refugees and victims of the conflict in the Department of Antioquia, Colombia”financed by the Italian Development Cooperation Agency – AICS. The project will be implemented in the territory of Urabá Antioquia, specifically in the municipalities of Necoclí, Turbo and Apartadó.
The project has 3 results:
Result #1: Provided humanitarian assistance to improve the living conditions of refugees and migrants in transit or intending to remain (mixed migratory flows), as well as internally displaced persons and the local population, to address the needs derived from the prolonged internal armed conflict.
Result #2: Improved access to basic health, sexual and reproductive health, and mental health services, with special attention to the specific needs of women, minors, and people with disabilities.
Result #3: Strengthened socioeconomic integration and social cohesion between refugees, migrants, victims of armed conflict and local communities, through the mediation of women and youth, vocational training, job placement and actions aimed at promoting peaceful coexistence.
Job Description
Under the direct supervision of the Project Coordinator and the MEAL Officer, the 2 community promoters will provide direct support to Outcomes 1 and 2 activities, especially those related to direct work in communities. In particular, the promoters will carry out the processes of enlistment, identification and distribution of humanitarian aid (food and non-food), in accordance with the eligibility criteria established within the framework of the project. Likewise, they will provide direct support to actions related to result 3, framed in training the population and disseminating the awareness campaign.
Areas of responsibility
Project implementation
- Guarantee the adequate storage, supply and distribution of humanitarian assistance kits, both food and non-food, taking care of the optimal condition of the elements of each kit.
- Carry out the proper registration of the distribution of aid in the platforms and databases implemented for this purpose.
- Provide logistical and accompaniment support in the development of community activities, evaluations and field analysis, including the identification of communities for intervention.
- Carry out the training required within the framework of the 3 results project, especially those related to humanitarian principles, PSEA, protection, inclusion and disability.
- Support the targeting of project communities and territories, based on the main objective of the Urabá País project.
- Provide support in the development of community activities in accordance with what is required by the Project Coordination, MEAL officer and the technical team.
- Provide general support in the identification of rehabilitation spaces aimed at providing health services.
- Actively participate in processes that require training support at the community and institutional level.
Desired Profile
Essential requirements: 45 points
- University degree in Social Work, Social Sciences, Human Sciences, Education or related areas; I technical or technological training in areas related to community, social or educational work. Until 15 points
- Proven experience working with humanitarian organizations and/or NGOs and/or grassroots organizations. Until 15 points
- Minimum 1 year experience in implementing community work strategies. Until 10 points
- Experience articulating with multiple actors, including field teams, implementing partners and local communities. Until 5 points
Desirable Requirements: 10 points
- Work experience in Urabá Antioquia. Up to 5 points.
- Experience in inventory management and management in the humanitarian sector. Up to 5 points
Relevant skills
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Sense of organization and teamwork, flexibility.
- Experience in using office tools.
- Respect for COOPI values/mission.
- Excellent command of the Spanish language.
