This internship is part of an academic, professional or socio -professional integration program, and must respond to conditions fixed by the job supervisory board (CSME). The duration of the internship, fixed by the tripartite agreement, is 6 to 12 months to 100 %.

Contexte & Mission

Doctors Without Borders is an independent international medical and humanitarian organization that provides care for people in need, people affected by natural disasters or caused by man and victims of armed conflicts, without discrimination and without taking into account race, religion, beliefs or political affiliation (MSF charter).

The Department of Operations is made up of Desks (cells), a director of operations, two assistant directors, assistants, as well as project managers and medical advisers. The cells are six, including 5 regular cells and an emergency desk. The coordination of each team is ensured by a programs responsible (PR) supported by an assistant program manager (ARP). Each cell has a trainee position.

The responsibilities of the cell trainee are distributed as follows: 40% of the time dedicated to operational support, 40% of the time dedicated to HR and administrative support and 20% dedicated to medico-operational files.

The Desk 2 coordinates activities in Kenya, Tanzania, Kyrgyzstan/Kazakhstan, Myanmar, Ukraine and Armenia. A 12 -month availability is essential.

Main responsibilities

Under the supervision of the cell manager (PR), the cell intern supports the operational cell as follows:

Operations (40%)

  • Support for program manager (PR) and his assistant (ARP) for context analysis
  • Writing and corrections of intervention reports/proposals, in connection with the RP/ARP
  • Research on themes specific to missions (reports, assessments, etc.)
  • Summaries, compilations and layouts for internal and external presentations
  • Specific support and monitoring according to the needs of the cell and the field, for example:
    • Card order and monitoring of current work with the MSF GIS unit
    • Monitoring Donors Institutional Fund: Support for the drafting of subsidies and final/annual reports
    • Centralization of project management documents.
    • Monitoring of legal recordings and renewals

Human resources and administration (40%)

  • Support for the Operational Human Resources Manager (HRO) according to the needs of the cell and missions:
    • Ensures the update and provision of operational documents, HR and key mission documents for international staff (Welcome File and One Drive)
    • Organization of briefings (strategic documents, context, HR) and expatriate debriefings and ensures their welcome and orientation
    • Participation in international staff briefs
    • Monitoring of weekly HR points and preparation/participation in the weekly meeting with pool managers

Organizational tasks linked to the operation of the desk (20%)

  • Focal point for the Knowledge Management within the cell, in charge of Kompas software and its diet (archiving and updating of documents)
  • Management and archiving of documents (HR, Operated, Log, End) on the central server
  • Translation of documents according to needs and requests
  • Reports of the various weekly or punctual meetings (Minidesk, Copro, etc.)
  • Organization of events for the cell (Interdek, TC, Green Cell, Training, etc.)
  • Support for other cells, depending on need
  • Participate in the follow -up of the field visits of the various players and centralizes the information
  • Preparation and monitoring of equipment for missions (“Departure locker” management)

Profile sought

  • Be for the benefit of an internship agreement
  • Intra-academic curriculum, or according to federal measure of professional integration: preferably public health, international relations, human resources management or management, law or equivalent curriculum
  • Proven interest in humanitarian aid
  • Mastery of French and English (oral and written), another language an asset; Excellent editorial skills in French and English
  • Team spirit, ability to collaborate with multicultural teams
  • Priority management, proactivity, rigor, organization
  • Good knowledge of the Windows environment (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

Working conditions

  • Mandatory tripartite internship agreement
  • Internship 6 to 12 months 100% (depending on the internship agreement)
  • Based in Geneva
  • Date of entry into office: mid-July 2025
  • Gross monthly remuneration: CHF 2,000.-
