Senior Security Guard
Organizational Context and Scope :
Under the overall supervision of the Chief of Mission (CoM, IOM FSO and direct supervision of the Senior Security Administrative Coordinator; and, in collaboration with relevant units at Headquarters and the Administrative Centres, the successful candidate will be responsible and accountable for supporting the Security Operations Room Management and Supervisory support to IOM Contracted Guards .
Responsibilities and Accountabilities :
Perform day-to-day duties related to the safety and security procedures at IOM premises; this includes control of access of staff/visitors/applicants at entry/exit areas of the IOM offices.
Safeguard IOM staff assets, office premises, and security equipment at IOM Main Office.
Verify information and issues building/visitors passes at IOM Main Office.
Prepare letters for IOM staff/visitor/vendors for daily and monthly entry passes with necessary coordination with SSP Police entry branch.
Support Security Administrative Coordinator in preparing IOM Staff UNID Cards, and Diplomatic Yearly ID Cards, when required.
Monitor IOM Guards in managing company guards at IOM Offices and at IOM International Staff Private residences.
Make rounds at IOM staff private residences for security guard and equipment check.
Maintain IOM Security Guard asset inventory issued to Guards at IOM International staff private residences (as per RSM) for security equipment tracking.
Maintain Company Guard Contact list for all IOM Offices and International staff private residences, for follow ups and an emergency response.
Update Security Operation Room board for emergency contact list, emergency Office protocols/SOPs and important instructions for IOM Guards.
Verify that IOM Guards are performing visitor access procedures, in accordance with OSS instructions. Prevents any visitor from freely wandering through the offices and ensures the rules of the premises to any visitor involved in repairs and maintenances of the building.
Reports any suspicious activity immediately and reacts quickly and appropriately to any emergency to ensure the safety of the staff and any visitors inside the premises.
Assists in implementing emergency contingency plans and security Drills, including security company guard’s briefing on IOM Office security plans.
Maintain daily IOM Guard Rounds lists, IOM Log-Book entries, Security equipment check reports, for follow up and after verification report to OSS.
Checks that IOM Guards are performing duties as instructed and maintain IOM Guard duty board for new amendments in routine duties.
Follow up on IOM Guard activities and provide support in their administrative issues and request to OSS for further follow ups, as required.
Maintains an IOM duty guard roster for reliever duties and share with Security Administrative Coordinator for further approvals.
Patrol assigned areas; maintain continual surveillance against fire, water leakage, and any other action which could damage IOM premises or injure staff.
Has a thorough understanding of UNDSS security management system, acquaint with the UNDSS field security handbook, completes the Basic Security in the Field training and is available for further skill development trainings.
Make recommendations regarding safety/security requirements of the office and liaises regularly with the mission security focal point on safety and security conditions.
Perform other related duties as assigned .
Required Qualifications and Experience :
Education :
Graduate and at least two years of relevant professional experience in security management, law enforcement, or military discipline.
Experience :
Prior work experience with international humanitarian organizations, non-government or government institutions/organization in a multi-cultural setting is an advantage; and,
Experience in high security/emergency settings is an advantage
Languages :
Required :
Fluency in English (Oral and written)
Desirable :
Working knowledge of Urdu
