About the One Acre Fund
Founded in 2006, One Acre Fund provides more than 1.5 million family farmers with the agricultural services they need to make their activities more productive and more resistant. Our team of more than 8,000 people come from various backgrounds and professions. Present in ten African countries, we make farmers more prosperous by providing them with easy access to quality agricultural inputs, trees of trees, as well as agricultural training to improve harvests. On average, farmers we support derive 40 % additional benefits from their land when they register at One Acre Fund.
In the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), it is estimated that 1.1 million hectares of forests disappear each year. This deforestation, which has important consequences for the region, is mainly attributed to small -scale agricultural practices. One Acre Fund strives to combat the deep causes of deforestation, namely poverty and low agricultural yields, providing small operators with the tools necessary to move their agricultural activities out of forestry land and help them obtain greater and healthier harvests. We train farmers at agroforestry, we support the creation and development of companies led by farmers and we work throughout the seed supply chain in order to guarantee access to small operators to improved inputs.
