You will contribute to end hunger in the world for …

Guarantee the transversality of nutritional security with specific and sensitive approaches to nutrition in all the actions developed.

Perform nutritional interventions for the prevention, detection and treatment of malnutrition in the population, of the defined intervention areas.

Define, together with the base health team, health and nutrition interventions that contribute to the well -being and development of communities.

Orient the activities of education for nutritional health, according to the context findings and of nutritional assessments carried out.

The main activities you will perform are the following:

Objective 1: Perform an integrated analysis with nutrition sensitive approach

In identification:

  • Participate with the base and/or project team in the analysis of humanitarian needs/priorities/solutions from the nutritional security perspective in intervention areas.
  • Participate in the diagnosis and identification of projects, in the health and nutrition component taking into account relevance and viability (technical, cultural, socioeconomic, risk, etc.), when required.
  • Identify, analyze and report on local programs, plans, strategies and political strategies (donors, multilateral agencies, government, other NGOs, etc.) and the possible articulation with the actions of action against hunger, as well as the possible existing collaboration spaces.
  • Monitoring the nutritional, health and humanitarian situation of vulnerable areas/populations/communities of the base and/or project coverage area, using external sources (communities, donors, multilateral agencies, government, other NGOs, etc.) and internal.

In the implementation and monitoring of the projects:

  • Lead the implementation of the nutritional security policy in the base and/or project, and ensure the real inclusion of this approach in the other areas of intervention (eg Wash, Samv).
  • Implement and monitor the health and nutrition component in the base and/or project, to guarantee compliance in all phases of development, from identification to its evaluation.
  • Plan in a coordinated manner with the equipment the exits to the field in order to ensure regular monitoring of activities, in which its component has influence.
  • Apply, systematize and prepare initial baseline reports and a community/family/individual line of the activities in charge.
  • Ensure adequate management of the care database in the area of ​​health and nutrition respecting national and mission regulations in relation to the management of personal data and habeas data.
  • Perform nutritional assessment and monitoring (size, weight, brachial perimeter, hemoglobin) to mainly boys and girls under 5 years, pregnant women and infants.
  • Coordinate with the local health entities present in the area, for the development and complementarity of the actions provided for in the project (possible agreements, alliances, information exchange, among others).
  • Perform educational sessions and behavioral change activities sensitive and specific to nutrition according to the sociocultural environment where it develops (eg breastfeeding, micronutrient consumption, promotion of hygiene, healthy eating, others as appropriate).
  • Prepare and manage technical and operational instruments of the health and nutrition component of the projects (terms of reference, training plans, commitment minutes, agreements, delivery acts, etc.).
  • Incorporate the gender approach (equity and real participation, inclusion of interests and needs, in an equitable manner of men and women) and the differential approach to the actions provided in their charge.

In the report:

  • Prepare and monitor the achievement of results and objectives using indicators established in the logical framework of projects that include health and nutrition activities.
  • Support territorial coordination in the consolidation of health and nutrition information for the report in mission monitoring tools.
  • Maintain effective and effective communication with the equipment to inform about the progress of the project.
  • Prepare the reports contemplated in the projects in charge, according to their delivery schedule. In all reports, quantitative, statistical and qualitative information must be combined from an analytical perspective of the data found.
  • Actively participate in the team meetings internally in your office or in Bogotá.

In data and knowledge management:

  • Systematize the information collected in the technical component in your charge (eg, learned lessons, accountability, life stories of the area’s beneficiaries) and socialize with the base team and key actors at the local level.
  • Systematically use the computer action tools against hunger such as no Hunger Forum and Gespra.
  • Promote and propose the development of research, systematization and alliance initiatives with the Academy, based on the findings and needs found during the implementation of the project.

In the evaluation:

  • Prepare terms of reference (TDR/TOR), coordinate and monitor evaluations (internal or external) of the projects in charge.
  • Support and ensure the participation of the beneficiaries of the project in accountability.
  • Facilitate and inform the feedback of the beneficiaries on the activities carried out.
  • Review and capitalize recommendations and evaluation learning for feedback in the implementation of projects and new formulations.

Objective 2: Strengthen technical relationship with other organizations and institutions

  • Identify and maintain spaces that facilitate the exchange of technical information and action experiences against hunger with other organizations, under the supervision and in collaboration with the project manager and territorial coordination.
  • Relate to their peers and manage alliances in the area of ​​health and nutrition of public and private organizations at the municipal and departmental level (eg Secretariats of Health, Hospitals, ICBF, Health positions, universities), under the supervision and in collaboration with the project manager and the territorial coordination.
  • Coordinate with other local organizations the implementation of joint actions with a view to achieving greater impact under the supervision and in collaboration with the project manager and territorial coordination.

Objective 3: Provide support to support activities (administration, logistics and security management).

  • Support the project boss and/or territorial coordinator in the preparation of donor visits, or the hunger action team in capital and headquarters.
  • Participate in the forecast and monitoring of expenses of the base/project nutrition component.
  • Prepare the requests for ordering inputs and terms of reference for services when required (eg hiring of digitters, promoters, consultants, etc.).
  • Actively participate in the monitoring and analysis of the security situation of the activities through the permanent collection of information using various sources of information.
  • It permanently reports advances in action with its hierarchical and functional security referents.

This description fits with you?

  1. Professional entitled in Nutrition with Record in Rehus. Nursing professionals will be assessed with Rehus registration, with specialty, diploma and/or extensive experience in nutrition, maternal and child health, taking anthropometric measures.
  2. Minimum demonstrated experience of two (2) years in: Nutritional interventions for the prevention, detection and treatment of malnutrition. Integral management of acute malnutrition, according to the national guideline of the Ministry of Health. Ministry of breastfeeding. Experience in any of the following areas: Nutritional extramural care for childhood and pregnant women, maternal and infant health yy/or growth and development. The additional experience in nutritional and/or pediatric hospital care will be. Experience in task planning, field development and reporting. Work experience with high vulnerability groups such as children, women in situations of armed violence, migratory flows or disasters of natural origin. Experience with rural communities, desirable that they are from the specific context where the position is based. Desirable work experience with indigenous communities. Desirable previous experience with Humanitarian NGOs or international cooperation organizations.
  3. Knowledge: Certification in rapid sampling and HEMOCUE SYSTEM MANAGEMENT. Knowledge in breastfeeding counseling (certification will be a plus in this area). Knowledge in the guidelines for integrated management of acute malnutrition in Colombia. Management of growth patterns, nutritional classification and anthropometry. Knowledge in infant and healthy childhood in emergencies. Emergency nutrition knowledge. Technical basis on malnutrition management and its determinants. Cooking context and population where the position is located.
  4. Languages: desirable intermediate level of spoken and written English.
  5. Office and specific systems: Suite Office management. Data systematization tools. Nutritional software (Anthro, Anthro Plus, ENA). Desirable management of information analysis programs, EPI Info, Stata, others.
  6. Desirable: general knowledge of the organization and its intervention sectors; Experience in Latin America.
  7. Mobility: Availability for geographical mobility (trips to work areas, timely support to them)
  8. Gender equality commitments and zero tolerances to abuse: valuable previous experience in issues related to the promotion of gender equality or personal commitment to gender equality.
